The Road to IRONBEARD: Part 5

If you have no idea what is going on, check out parts 1, 2, 3 and 4 first.

I haven’t ridden Booger since I got home from the shakedown in part 4. I haven’t worked on it, either. I did get the part I think I need (replacement brake pedal) from WeBike a while back but I’ve been busy.

Busy isn’t the only reason I have been procrastinating. A part of me is afraid there is more wrong with the bike than external damage caused by dropping it multiple times in the dirt/mud. However, I committed to do this trip after I reached 1k subscribers on YouTube and that happened Tuesday. The original plan was to publish a short video celebrating the milestone and providing an update but I was jetlagged from spending a few days on the East Coast when it happened (flew back Monday Night) and am still feeling a bit off days later. Getting old sucks.

Anyway

Promises to strangers on the internet were made to do this trip and I’m hoping my garage is clean enough to work on Booger by the time this weekend is over. I don’t know what it is about my garage but it is always a disaster. If I am lucky and sufficiently motivated, I may be able to have the repairs done and chain/sprocket installed, as well.

Given that tomorrow is the beginning of June, my goals are now to have a second shakedown run completed by the end of June, the attempt completed by the end of July and the editing complete with a publishable video before September. Although the original attempt was scheduled for April, warmer weather and more hours of sunlight should work in my favor. Failing is an option but not one I really want to pursue.

Of course, if there are internal issues, the timeline will get thrown in the trash. Let’s assume everything is fine and release that positivity out into the universe. Not exactly what I’m known for…a beaming ray of sunshine brightening up everyone’s day.
